New Bible Study Series
Deacon
plans to start a new Bible Study series in early August. The series will be on evangelism and will
cover the necessity of sharing the message of the Gospel with others and how to
do it in an online environment. Join us
in Teamspeak, Thursday nights at 7pm central standard time for this exciting
new study.
Website Error
Some
members have been experiencing problems with our website recently, especially
those who use the www.christiancs.com
address. It has been brought to my
attention that switching to the www.christiantf2.com
address often fixes the problem. Keep
that in mind if you are experiencing problems.
CC Gathering
The
annual CC gathering is set for the weekend of August 2. It will be in Wisconsin as usual, and will
include the traditional paintball match at Promised Land Paintball course. Details for the event and how to attend can
be found at this thread. http://www.christiancs.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=18416
Meet the Council Member
Goatman
This month’s interview is with
Goatman, a long time member who was recently appointed to the council. Goat and I joined the clan at about the same
time, and we’ve had several very good discussions over the last few years. One thing that really stood out to me when I
met Goat was that he has a heart for people who don’t know the love of Christ,
and is passionate in reaching them.
Goat, why don’t you tell us a little about yourself and how you found
the Crew?
Well,
I’m 19, I’m trying to figure out exactly what direction I wanna go in
college. I’m about to start my second
year, and I’m strongly considering changing my goal from medical to Christian
ministry or Christian education. Not
fully decided yet, though. I’m
originally from the San Fransisco Bay Area, but moved out to rural California
just east of Sacramento when I was 11.
Those are the main things. Any
more questions and people can PM me.
Oh,
I almost forgot the second question.
Well, I was getting on CS one day, aimlessly trying to find a
halfway-decent server I could frequent and become a regular on. As you guys probably know, there aren’t all
that many good servers, and most are pretty hard to find, because they’re so
scattered. Well, my prayers were
answered in a big way when I saw “The Fish [Big] www.christiancs.com.”
Could you tell our readers why you
are so obsessed with reaching people for Christ?
Simply
put, because it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. And I love people, and so, naturally, I want
to share it with them. I would not be a
Christian today if someone, no, if quite a few people hadn’t reached out to
me. It’s also what Christ commanded us
to do as Christians. “Go forth, and make
disciples of all nations.” That is the
call of every Christian alive.
What do you do when you’re not
online?
College
takes up most of my time in the non-summer months. Lately, though, my parents have had me
working on the ranch quite a bit, and I’m also taking martial arts lessons and
spending time with my friends who are back from college for the summer.
What’s your favorite movie?
I
don’t really know of any movie that really stands out above the rest I’ve seen
lately, except perhaps the Lord of the Rings trilogy. They spent a long time on it, and it shows.
What’s your favorite book (besides the
Bible…)?
I
really enjoy the Ender’s Game series.
Also, anything by C.S. Lewis is really good.
If California’s rigid gun laws
weren’t a problem, and you could own any weapon from CS:S in real life, which
would it be?
LOL
interesting question. For practical
purposes, probably an ES 5-7. It’s
accurate, and has a large clip. (and
you’d need about half that clip to bring someone down…-ed.)
For
fun, though, nothing beats the M249.
How did you get your name?
Well,
when I moved out of the city, my parents bought this 10-acre piece of
land. They’ve since turned it into a
goat ranch. I’m not a very creative
person, so I just went with that as my inspiration.
In
Middle School, I had a $5 bet running about changing my name to Goatman on Day
of Defeat. That had a hand in it,
too. He never did give me $5...
If a cat, a dog, and a goat had a
three way brawl, who would win?
The
dog, no question. And by dog, I mean an
actual dog, like the 120 LB Akbash and Great Pyrenees dogs we use to protect
our goats from cougars and the like.
Who’s your favorite band/singer?
Wow.
Of all time, probably Five Iron Frenzy or Brave Saint Saturn. Favorite secular band would have to be
Lifehouse (Lead singer and lyricist is a Christian, though, and it does
unquestioningly show through in their music).
Could you tell us a little about
how you came to know Christ?
Hmm...
The short version or the long version? Lol.
I’ll try to keep this on the short side.
In short, looking back, I’ve discovered that my whole life, since about
the time I was 2 years old, was influenced, I believe by God, towards the
direction of me accepting Christ. There
are tons of incidents and coincidences that went ways or resulted in
If you could tell everyone in the
Christian Crew one thing, what would it be?
Be
real. I know a lot of people who act
like Christians when they’re say, in our servers, or at church, but not the
rest of the time. If people only know
you’re a Christian because you’ve told them at some point, something’s gotta
change. Your greatest testimony is how
you live your life. So speak it loudly.
Special Announcement from the Council
In place of our regularly scheduled
editorial, this month there will be a special announcement from the council
regarding a major change to our application process. Fear not.
We should return to our regularly scheduled editorial next week.
The Christian Crew council would like to announce that we have drafted a
completely new method for taking on members. Over the last several
months, the pitfalls of the previous system have become abundantly clear to
many on the council. It became evident that we needed to completely
rethink the way we do applications. A new, simpler system, that addressed
the need for better doctrinal screening, yet also allowed for greater outreach,
was needed. Ladies and gentlemen, we feel that this new system will do
just that.
The new system will do away with the <P>< tag. Henceforth, all
members that apply to join the Christian Crew, both Christians and
non-Christians, will be required to bear the ACC tags for at least a month
prior to being eligible to apply for CC tags (this time limit may be waived at
the discretion of the council under special circumstances). A perspective
member will fill out a simple application, agree to follow our rules, and
receive a confirmation email in a short, simple manner. If after a month,
the new member wants to wear CC tags, he may fill out the application for CC
membership.
Unlike the application for ACC, the CC application will contain a more thorough
examination of the person’s beliefs regarding God, the Bible, and Salvation.
If the person’s beliefs line up with the Bible and the beliefs stated in
the Christian Crew Constitution, the person will be granted CC tags, provided
the council knows the person well enough to trust them with the tags. The
responsibility will lie with the applicant to earn the council’s trust.
The applicant can make himself known the quickest by participating in
forum discussions, Bible studies, etc. These are good opportunities for the
applicant to show the council that he is serious about what he believes.
Obviously this change means quite a bit to prospective members as we move
forward with this new process. But what does this mean to current CC
members? Firstly, it means that the ACC tags will no longer be just for
atheists, agnostics, etc, as the tag has traditionally signified. It is
now more of an acquaintance or attendee tag, for both for Christians who are
new to this community and non-Christians. Secondly, members who have been
with the Crew for a while should take a look at the new membership form and see
if they could answer the questions on it. These are questions that we
feel ALL Christians have a responsibility to know how to answer in a correct
and Biblical way. If you cannot answer them, we recommend you look at our
statement of belief in our constitution and search the Bible for answers.
We would also encourage current ACC members to look over our constitution
for further insight into what we believe.
Current ACC members may also wonder how this may affect them. Do not
worry. No one’s admin will be taken away, nor will any of your other
privileges be revoked or limited by this change. Things will most likely
stay the same for you, save for the fact that you may have more people wearing
your tag in the near future.
In conclusion, the council feels that this new system will allow us to outreach
to more people effectively, while also being able to screen new members more
closely. We feel that it is absolutely vital to not water down what the
Bible says as we reach out. We will reach out in love, as we continue to
stand for the truth of the Bible. If we fail to take a stand for the
truth, we will be doing God and man a disservice.
To God be the glory,
